21st Century Transportation Solutions

Cars and trucks fuel our dependence on expensive oil.  A lack of transportation options has forced us to pay $4/gallon, bear  worsening congestion, and endure increasing smog. Plans for more and better public transportation have languished on the drawing board because of the influence of powerful special interests. Our state invests less than 4% of transportation funds in public transportation. For the 21st century, there is a better way to go.

Going Broke for Big Oil: Need Transit Options

Nothing illustrates the economic harm of poor transportation options than the fact that, since the tax rebates were approved in February, the average American has already spent it at the pump. On June 25, 2008, NCPIRG released a new report, "Squandering the Stimulus" to mark the milestone, and call for greater investment in public transportation.

Save-a-watt - What about save a buck?

There are a lot of reasons to save energy:  it cuts down on pollution, reduces our dependence on out-of-state fossil fuels, and decreases the need for new power plants.  But perhaps most of all, saving energy saves customers money.  But Duke Energy is trying to change that.
