Letter	Dear Director Gruber, Thank you for advocating for consumers, like me, in matters before the Utilities Commission. In the “Save-A-Watt” proceeding, I need your protection more than ever. As you know, Duke Energy has requested to charge customers 90% of the market rate for energy as compensation for customers’ efficiency. While I understand the importance of efficiency, it is unfair for Duke Energy to reap all of the economic benefits of efficiency. Efficiency requires action, planning, and conserving by consumers. Significant economic savings should be consumers’ reward. Entrusting Duke Energy as the efficiency custodian, and bestowing upon the company a windfall makes no sense. Please oppose Duke’s Save-A-Watt petition, protect consumers, and kick the fox out of the hen house. “Save-A-Watt” exploits consumers’ goodwill and consumes the savings we should have earned from conservation.
