Rob Thompson, Public Interest Advocate Mr. Thompson works to protect consumers from scams and rip-offs, improve the quality of health care, and promote good democracy in North Carolina. After Thompson graduated from Tulane University in 2003, he began working at the Center for Campus Free Speech, where he organized students and faculty to protect their first amendment rights. Thompson is NCPIRG’s primary spokesperson in the media and in the NC General Assembly on consumer and democracy issues.

Shana Becker, Staff Attorney Ms. Becker directs NCPIRG's Utilities Watchdog Project, monitoring utility companies’ business practices, lobbying to protect rate-payers, and promoting sustainable energy. She also researches and lobbies for fair tax practices and open government. Before joining NCPIRG, Becker litigated employment law cases at Kator, Parks, & Weiser, PLLC, and clerked in the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. She is a graduate of Harvard Law School, where she was an editor of the Harvard Negotiation Law Review and a community mediator. Becker is a member of the Texas and District of Columbia Bars.
